Winemaker's dinners at Blackwood Lane are always a great occasion. Each year we host a dinner to help Carlos celebrate his birthday in January, and we occasionally put on one or two throughout the year. If you enjoy eating creatively designed dishes, along with delicious wines, you must plan to attend at least one of these specal dinner events.
This year we featured a four course dinner prepared by Janik, a food passionate Chef, who has extensive cooking experience working at such venues as The Fairmont Hotel for discerning guests. His dishes were put together with delectable ingredients that wowed our palates. Each plate was assembled beautifully as well. We paired each course with Blackwood Lane wines that were chosen to bring out the best in each dish and the best in each wine.
The evening began with canapes that were to die for, including a Mojito Ceviche. Janik's first course was Plated Shaved Asparagus Salad which we paired with Carlos' special reserve sparkling Riesling. Second course was a Butternut Squash and Sage Soup, paired with Seabuckthorn Riesling. Third course was the entree, Porchetta, which was stuffed pork loin served with seasonal vegetables in a Dijon apple au jus. This we paired with our Signature Bordeaux style wine "Alliance". For dessert Janik served us Ginger Pear parfait, which was paired with our dessert wine "Portance" (a Vintage Port style wine).
